If she
verbally abuses you, abuse her too!
Women don’t
have monopoly of domestic violence. We tend to ignore what is also happening to
men all in the name of domestic violence. Sometimes I wonder if the physical
structure or advantage given to men is really a sad advantage or something to celebrates
about. Many men are really weeping emotionally but are silently dying because
of societal stereotype.
Many men
have been victimized by women and the society expects them to act calm. No way,
if she hits you, hit her too, if she bad mouths you, bad mouth her too!
Recently,
there was a video that trended online where three ladies raped a man in South
Africa! I followed the story up and realized that the man reported the case to
the police but the police didn’t take him serious. They felt he was lying even
with video evidence! They claimed he enjoyed it!! That’s how bad it’s it.
According
to a report, more than 830,000 men
fall victim to domestic violence every year. Now, this record is alarming! We are ignoring this too.
The report further stated that a man is the victim of domestic abuse every 37.8 seconds in
America. These numbers are not inconsequential and the frequency is far from
insignificant.
The report didn’t consider
countries like Nigeria where women use their tongue as their weapon. They
easily bad mouth a man and lower his self-esteem. To lower the self-esteem of
anyone is a serious crime in telecom business.
Going
forward in 2001, the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health collected data about the health of a
nationally representative sample of 14,322 individuals between the ages of 18
and 28. The study also asked subjects to answer questions about romantic or
sexual relationships in which they had engaged during the previous five years
and whether those relationships had involved violence.
According to the data, researchers
found that out of the 18,761 relationships, 76 percent were non-violent and 24
percent were violent. Of the 24 percent that were violent, half had been reciprocal
and half had not — reciprocal meaning there was violence inflicted by both
partners. Although more men than women (53 percent versus 49 percent) had
experienced nonreciprocal violent relationships, more women than men (52
percent versus 47 percent) had taken part in ones involving reciprocal
violence.
This statistic was
undoubtedly the most striking: in committing acts of domestic violence, more
women than men (25 percent versus 11 percent) were responsible. In fact, in the
71 percent of nonreciprocal partner violence instances, the instigator was the
woman. This flies in the face of the long-held belief that female aggression in
a relationship is most often predicated on self-defense. We can see that we are
working with data here and not long held belief.
Going
forward, while injury was more likely when violence was perpetrated by men, in
relationships that featured reciprocal violence men were injured more often (25 percent of the time) than women (20 percent of the time).
Great Britain’s
Office of National Statistics also showed that while 1.2 million women
experienced domestic violence, 800,000 men did as well — in the U.K., men comprise 40 percent of those who suffer from domestic violence.
The
Department of Psychology at California State University, Long Beach, compiled a
bibliography that examined 286 scholarly investigations,
221 empirical studies and 65 reviews and/or analyses demonstrating that which
we are reluctant to discuss — the uncomfortable reality that women are as
physically aggressive, or even more so, than men in their relationships with
their spouses or male partners. (data source: Mintpress News )
Yet we
ignore all these! The society expects a man to smile and walk away when a lady verbally
abuses him. The society also expects a man to walk away when a
woman hits him. The society claimed that a woman is weaker, so she should get
away with her actions against a man. No, this is like saying that women should
not face trial in court for crime committed.
I was at
a bar relaxing when a lady slapped a man because of a brief argument and the man
wanted to hit her back but other men rushed and stopped him. When he became furious that the lady was getting away with it, he became extremely angry.
Another guy rushed to him and gave him a serious punch on his chest, called him
weak man and told him as a man ‘he was expected to walk away when the lady slapped
him.’ Like seriously? Are you kidding me? I was sad for him. The lady went away
with her shit! The guy was pissed and abandoned his drink.
In so
many marriages, wives easily insult hell out of their hubby. Their words get to
their (hubby) nerves and they end up hitting the lady and you talk against
these men, huh? You must be sick. We are all humans and we deserve respect from
one another. Both verbal and physical abuses are against human philosophy and
should be avoided. I can’t take it easy on a woman who insults my personality and
pride. Worst is if you hit me. I was sexually molested by a full grown lady many years ago when I was in junior class but those I shared it with felt I'm was joking. If your wife slaps you, slap her three times. If
she bad mouths you, bad mouth her too.
