I fainted because I just couldn't face her. I needed more time to rehearse the lies to tell her. The problem was that we just got married and I was about to be caught cheating!! Wow, my whole family would be disappointed for real!
"Mark, Mark, Mark, Maaaaaaaaaaaaark" she screamed my name "Where are you coming from Mark?". My eyes were closed but I could see with my heart: she stood like a typical African woman ready to physically fight with you, her hands were firmly found on her lower join and her eyes were sharper than security torch light, her left foot was aggressively but slowly beating the floor and her face wasn't really charming...yes, not charming at all.
Here is the twist: I
actually fainted. I lost consciousness but it only lasted for few seconds. I wished it lasted longer. What I did was to pretend when I regained consciousness. I still maintained my calm, I pretended to be motionless. After about few minutes of trying to call me, she started feeling something was really wrong. My wife bent down to call my name but this time, she called me with a softer voice, she then called me 'baby, baby, baby' but I wasn't responding at all. I started feeling she was getting scared and worried. That is women for you, they are very soft, very emotional and that is their biggest set back. Yes, they are but will you blame them? Their mother, sister Eve was guilty of same issue, no wonder she ruined us all.
She kissed my fore head, kept calling me, touching my skin, she kissed my lips but I refused to return to reality. She started shivering, she raised my head and placed it on her laps. She called the gateman to rush inside. Mind you, she wasn't properly dressed, I almost stood up when she called the gateman to come in and assist her because I didn't want that old man to come and see my wife on sexy night gown. I had to fight the feeling and maintained my pretence!
My wife was already dropping tears gradually as the gateman rushed in. She was panting slowly. "I don't know what happened to my husband, he passed out!" She narrated to him. The gateman probably knew I was pretending since he was worst than Casanova during his youthful years, dashed to the visitors' bathroom and came out with half bucket of water, pleaded on my wife to gently drop my head on the floor. My wife did and he poured the whole water on me!! Gosh, I felt terrible inside. "What is wrong with this old fool eh" I lamented inside. My heart became my friend as I only communicated with my heart. I managed to hold on and my wife ordered him to get more water and the foolish gateman joyfully rushed in again and came out with full bucket of water, he faced my face and poured everything on me!!! The room was messed up already and I promised to deal with the gateman when this madness ends up. He was probably dealing with me since I was yet to pay him salary for 2 months!
I still maintained my pretence. My wife started crying loudly, she got her phone. After few seconds of dialing a number on her phone, I heard her saying: "Hi doctor Jane, please (she cried further) I need you drive down to my house. My husband has refused to gain consciousness after passing out. I have tried everything...please, come around, please..." She dropped the phone immediately.
I was dead cold inside. My wife told the gateman to return to duty post in order to open the gate for Doctor Jane when she arrives. She sat close to me, crying and begging me to come back. She said so many things like "baby, I'm no more angry at you, please come back, I'll not talk about it. I trust you with all my heart..." I was tempted to return to reality but I just didn't trust her to let go of this big case just like that so, I maintained my pretence. After many years of cheating and double cheating, I have come to know that women just don't forgive just like that. Thank God for my experience so far though at least it saved the situation.
In less than 5 minutes, Doctor Jane drove into the compound. She rushed inside with her First Aid box. "What happened sweetie?" she asked my wife with her face full of shock when she saw how messed up the whole room was. "I sincerely don't know Doctor Jane, we had little...." my wife answered her but wasn't interested in explaining any thing further, she just wanted her baby to be alright and she was crying.
Doctor Jane spoke to my wife quietly and calmed her down. She called the gateman to assist her lift me out of the messed up floor which he did. She brought out her medical tools. She was about attending to me, she stopped, looked at my wife who was half dead "sweetie, I have told you, you don't need to be scared, he will be fine. I guessed he was attacked by shock. He will be okay. Kindly excuse me okay. Go inside. He will surely be fine. I will come inside to speak with you in few minutes okay" she spoke to my wife softly. My wife listened this time and reluctantly left and went inside. When I felt she was out of sight, I opened my eyes!
"Jane, I'm messed up big time...." I whispered to her.
"How did you get it all wrong Mr man?" she asked me. "You will have to pay me big time if I help you escape this mess." My wife came out again but we sighted her faster so, doctor Jane covered up while I continued with my pretence!
